Terms & Conditions
Effective 4 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Griffin Games (“Griffin Games”, “we”, “us”), a studio name used by an individual developer. They cover your use of this website and the browser games published on it, including Pokémon, Animal or SCP? and Real or Fake? (the “Games”). By using the site or a game you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
1. Who may use the Games
The Games are intended for general audiences. If you are under the age of majority where you live, please use them with a parent or guardian’s awareness. You are responsible for making sure your use complies with the laws where you live.
2. Licence to play
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and play the Games for your own non-commercial entertainment and learning. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- copy, scrape, reproduce or redistribute the Games’ questions, answers, explanations or code, or build a competing product from them;
- reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source of the Games, except where law permits;
- interfere with or disrupt the site, its hosting or its security, or try to gain unauthorised access;
- use bots, scripts or automation to play, or tamper with saved data to misrepresent scores;
- use the site or the Games for any unlawful purpose.
4. Content and accuracy
Real or Fake? mixes real items with invented ones for entertainment and general education. We take care to check the real items and to make sure invented items do not correspond to real things, but all content is provided “as is” and we cannot guarantee that it is complete, current or free of error. Invented creatures and false statements are fictional by design and are revealed and explained after each round.
Pokémon, Animal or SCP? mixes real animals, fictional Pokémon and fantasy creatures, and fictional SCP material. Fictional descriptions are not factual guidance or instructions, and some SCP and fantasy descriptions contain unsettling themes. Choose categories that suit you.
Do not rely on the Games for medical, legal, scientific, academic or any other professional purpose. If you spot a mistake, please tell us.
5. Scores, leaderboards and saved data
Scores, streaks, statistics, Daily and weekly results and leaderboards are stored locally in your browser. They are not verified by us, are not competitions, and do not provide prizes or monetary rewards. They may be lost if you clear your browser data, change browsers or devices, or use a private window. We are not responsible for lost progress. See our Privacy Policy.
6. Supporters, perks and credits
Support is voluntary. Tips, memberships and similar contributions are made through third-party services such as Ko-fi and Patreon under their own terms, including their rules on fees, payments and refunds. The free games stay free whether or not you support us. Supporting us does not give you ownership of, or rights in, the games, the studio or its revenue, other than the perks described on the service where you give support. We may change, pause or end perks, tiers or prices, and we will try to give notice when we do.
Credits and titles, including “Executive Producer / Design Council”, are recognition only. They do not create an employment, partnership, ownership or revenue-sharing relationship. We intend to keep supporters’ names in credits permanently, but we may remove or change a credit at your request, if the name is unlawful or offensive, or if you breach these terms.
7. Ideas and submissions
Supporters may be able to suggest game ideas, mechanics, themes, art styles, questions or other material in patron threads, polls or on Discord. Suggestions are voluntary. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, you give us a free, worldwide, perpetual licence to use, adapt and include what you submit in our games and related materials without payment, and we are not obliged to use, credit or reply to any submission. Please only submit material you have the right to share, and do not submit anything confidential. You keep any rights you have in your original material, and we remain free to develop similar ideas of our own.
8. Early access and community spaces
Early builds, prototypes, devlogs and design documents shared with supporters are works in progress, provided “as is”, and may be incomplete or change or disappear. Unless we say otherwise, please do not share them publicly or redistribute them. Our Discord server is also governed by Discord’s Terms of Service and any server rules. Be respectful, and do not post unlawful, hateful or infringing content. We may remove content or members, and end access to supporter spaces, if these terms or the rules are broken.
9. Third-party materials and services
Sound effects, fonts, fictional settings and sources linked from the Games belong to their respective owners and are used under the licences described in our Copyright notice. We do not control or endorse third-party websites. The site is hosted and measured using third-party services (such as Cloudflare, see its website terms), which are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
10. Intellectual property
The site and the Games, including their names, design, text, code, question content and original artwork, are owned by Griffin Games or its licensors and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws, except for third-party material identified in the Copyright notice. “Griffin Games” and the Games’ titles are names of the publisher. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership to you.
11. New features
We may add features such as advertising, optional purchases, online leaderboards or additional content. Any such feature may be subject to additional terms, which will be shown to you before you use it.
12. Availability and changes
We may modify, suspend or discontinue the site, the Games or any part of them at any time, without liability to you, and we may remove or change questions and features without notice.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site and the Games are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that they will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful components.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Griffin Games and its owners, contributors and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the site or the Games. Our total liability for any claim relating to the free Games is limited to the amount you paid us for them, which is zero. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law or affects your statutory consumer rights.
15. Termination
We may restrict or end your access if you breach these terms. You may stop using the site at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including intellectual property, disclaimers and limitation of liability, survive.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Griffin Games is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim in your home courts.
17. General
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Copyright notice, are the entire agreement between you and us about the site and the Games. We may update these terms from time to time; the effective date shows the latest version, and continued use after a change means you accept it.
