Privacy Policy
Effective 4 October 2026
This policy explains how Griffin Games (“Griffin Games”, “we”, “us”), a studio name used by an individual developer, handles information on this website and in the browser games published here, including Pokémon, Animal or SCP? and Real or Fake? (together, the “Games”). In short: there are no accounts, no cookies and no advertising, your gameplay data stays on your own device, and we do not sell personal information.
1. Information we do not collect
We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, location, payment details or any other personal information to browse the site or play. There is no sign-up, no login, and no user-generated content such as chat or profiles.
2. Information stored on your device
The Games save data in your browser’s local storage (and, briefly, session storage) on your own device. It is not sent to us. It includes:
- scores, best streaks, accuracy by category, number of runs and personal records;
- local leaderboard entries (for example score, questions answered and date) and Daily or weekly history;
- your settings, such as language, sound, volume, vibration, reduced motion and chosen categories;
- short-lived replay information so a run can restart after a page reload.
Because this data is local, leaderboards are personal to your browser and device and can be seen by anyone using the same browser profile. Clearing your browser data, using a private window, or using a game’s reset option deletes it permanently. We cannot recover it for you.
3. Hosting and technical data
This site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like all websites, the servers and content delivery network that deliver it automatically process technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested and the time of the request, in order to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse. We do not use this data to identify you. Logs are kept by the provider under its own policies and for a limited period. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy for details.
4. Cookies, analytics and advertising
We do not set cookies and we do not show advertisements. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused service, to count visits and page views so we can understand how many people play and which pages are used. It does not use cookies or local storage to track you, does not track you across websites, and does not collect personal information such as your name or email address. It reports anonymous, aggregated data such as the page visited, referring site, country, browser and device type. It is not linked to your scores or settings.
We also use Google Search Console (see Google’s Privacy Policy), which tells us how our pages appear in Google Search. It does not place anything on your device when you visit the site. If we add advertising or other analytics in future, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires, ask for your consent.
5. Fonts
The games load fonts from Google Fonts. When a game opens, your browser requests those font files from Google, which receives your IP address and browser details as part of that request. The studio’s own pages use fonts served from this site.
6. Supporters, community and credits
The site links to third-party services where you can support us or join the community: Ko-fi, Patreon, Discord and itch.io. They are operated by other companies. If you use them, your account details, payment information and messages are handled by them under their own terms and privacy policies (see Patreon’s Privacy Policy and Discord’s Privacy Policy). We do not collect or store payment details.
Depending on the platform and your settings, we may receive limited information about supporters, such as a display name, email address, tier and amount. We use it only to deliver supporter perks, to thank you, to credit you in our games if your tier includes credits, and to contact you about your support. If you are credited, we publish the name you choose, not your email address. Messages and your username in our Discord server are visible to other members of that server. You can ask us to remove or change a credit, or to delete information we hold about you, by contacting us.
7. Sharing your results
Share buttons create a text summary or image (for example game mode, score, streak and a link to the game). It is only shared if you choose to send it, using your device’s share sheet or by copying it. It contains no personal information. Link previews on other services are created by those services.
8. Third-party links and forms
Games may link to sources such as Wikipedia and the SCP Foundation Wiki. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and following a link shares your IP address and browser details with them.
Our feedback links open a form hosted by Google Forms, or an email to us. If you use them, what you submit is handled under Google’s Privacy Policy or your email provider’s, and we receive the answers you send. Please don’t include personal information you don’t want us to have. If you give an email address, we use it only to reply to you, and we keep correspondence only as long as needed to handle your request.
9. Children
The Games are suitable for general audiences, including children, because they collect no personal information and contain no chat, contact with strangers, purchases or advertising. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. Some SCP and fantasy material in Pokémon, Animal or SCP? has unsettling themes; a parent or guardian may wish to review it.
10. Legal basis and your rights
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR and UK GDPR apply, the limited processing described above is based on our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website, and on local storage that is strictly necessary to provide the features you request. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the California CCPA/CPRA and similar laws elsewhere), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal information, to object to processing, and to complain to a regulator. Because we do not hold your gameplay data, most of these rights can be exercised by clearing your browser’s data. For anything else, contact us.
11. Retention, security and international transfers
We do not retain gameplay data because it lives only on your device. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs for a limited period. We use HTTPS and reputable infrastructure to protect the site, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Our hosting and delivery infrastructure may process technical request data in countries other than your own, with safeguards applied by the provider where required.
12. Disclosure
We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not hold any. We may disclose information we hold, such as feedback you sent us, if required by law or a valid request from a public authority, or in good faith to protect the rights, property or safety of Griffin Games, its users or the public.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed, and material changes will be shown on this page before they take effect.
