Terms & Conditions

Effective date: 2 October 2026  ·  Publisher: Griffin Games

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Griffin Games ("Griffin Games", "we", "us") governing your use of the Real or Fake? website and game (the "Game"). By using the Game you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

1. Who may use the Game

The Game is intended for general audiences. If you are under the age of majority where you live, please use it with a parent or guardian's awareness. You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with local laws.

2. Licence to play

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and play the Game for your own non-commercial entertainment and learning. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by Griffin Games.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

4. Educational content and accuracy

The Game mixes real items with invented ones for entertainment and general education. We take care to check the real items and to ensure invented items do not correspond to real things, but we provide all content "as is" and cannot guarantee that it is complete, current or free of error. Invented creatures and false statements are fictional by design and are always revealed and explained after each round. Do not rely on the Game for medical, legal, scientific, academic or any other professional purpose. If you spot a mistake, please let us know.

5. Scores, leaderboards and saved data

Scores, streaks, statistics, Daily results and leaderboards are stored locally in your browser and are not verified by us. They may be lost if you clear your browser data, change browsers or devices, or use a private window. We are not responsible for lost progress. See our Privacy Policy for details.

6. Sounds and third-party materials

The Game uses sound effects and music released under the CC0 / public domain dedication by their authors (credited in the Game's files). Third-party names, websites and sources linked from the Game, such as Wikipedia, belong to their respective owners, and we do not control or endorse their content. The Game is hosted and measured using third-party services (such as Vercel), which are governed by their own terms and privacy policies; see our Privacy Policy for details.

7. Intellectual property

The Game, including its name, design, text, code, question content and original artwork, is owned by Griffin Games or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. "Real or Fake?" and "Griffin Games" are names of the publisher. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership to you.

8. Future features, ads and purchases

We may add features such as advertising, optional purchases, online leaderboards or additional content in future. Any such feature may be subject to additional terms, which will be presented to you before you use it.

9. Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend or discontinue the Game or any part of it at any time, without liability to you. We may remove or change questions and features without notice.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Game is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Game will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful components.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Griffin Games and its owners, contributors and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Game. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Game is limited to the amount you paid us for it, which for the free Game is zero. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, nor affects your statutory consumer rights.

12. Termination

We may restrict or end your access to the Game if you breach these Terms. You may stop using the Game at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers and limitation of liability) will survive.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Griffin Games is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of that jurisdiction will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim in your home courts.

14. General

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Game. We may update these Terms from time to time; the effective date above shows the latest version, and continued use after a change means you accept it.
