Privacy Policy
Effective date: 3 October 2026 · Publisher: Griffin Games (a game studio name used by an individual developer based in Maharashtra, India)
This Privacy Policy explains how Griffin Games ("Griffin Games", "we", "us") handles information when you play Real or Fake? (the "Game"). In short: the Game has no accounts and no server-side storage of your gameplay, and we do not sell personal information.
1. Information we do not collect
We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, location, payment details or any other personal information to play. There is no sign-up, no login, and no user-generated content such as chat or profiles.
2. Information stored on your device
To make the Game work, it saves data in your browser's local storage on your own device. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us. It includes:
- your scores, best streaks, accuracy by category and number of runs played;
- your leaderboard entries (top 5 for Speed Round and Sudden Death: score, number of questions, correct answers, and date);
- your Daily puzzle history and Daily streak;
- your settings (language, sound, vibration, reduced animations) and whether the sidebar was left open.
Because this data is local, leaderboards are personal to your browser and device. Clearing your browser data, using a private window, or choosing Settings → Reset deletes it permanently. We cannot recover it for you.
3. Information processed by our hosting provider
The Game is delivered as a website. Like all websites, the servers that host it (and any content delivery network in front of them) automatically process technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, requested pages and time of request in order to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse. We do not use this data to identify you. Standard server logs are retained by the hosting provider under its own policies and for a limited period.
4. Cookies, analytics and advertising
The Game does not set cookies and does not show advertisements. We use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-focused service, to count visitors and page views so we can understand how many people play and which pages are used. It does not use cookies, does not track you across websites, and does not collect personal information such as your name or email address. Visits are counted using anonymous, aggregated data (for example the page visited, referring site, country, browser and device type), and the visitor count relies on a short-lived, irreversible hash rather than a stored identifier. We also use Vercel Speed Insights to measure how fast the Game loads and responds (for example page load times and other web performance metrics, together with your approximate country, browser and device type). It is likewise cookieless and anonymous. Neither service is linked to your scores or settings, which stay on your device. Both services are provided by Vercel Inc., which also hosts the Game; you can read more in the Vercel Privacy Policy. If we add advertising or other analytics in future, we will update this policy before doing so and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.
5. Sharing your results
The "Share result" button creates a text summary (game mode, date for Daily, emoji results, score, best streak and a link to the Game). It is only shared if you choose to send it, using your device's share sheet or by copying it to your clipboard. It contains no personal information.
6. Third-party links
After each round the Game may link to sources such as Wikipedia. Those sites are operated by third parties with their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them. Following a link will share your IP address and browser details with that site.
The Game also links to an optional feedback form hosted by Google Forms. If you choose to use it, whatever you type into the form (and anything Google collects when you use its service) is handled under Google's Privacy Policy. We only see the answers you submit, and we use them to improve the Game. Please don't include personal information you don't want us to have; if you give your email address, we will use it only to reply to you.
7. Children
The Game is suitable for general audiences, including children, because it collects no personal information and contains no chat, links to strangers, purchases or advertising. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including anyone under 16.
8. Legal basis and your rights
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR and UK GDPR apply, the limited processing described above is carried out on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website, and local storage that is strictly necessary to provide the features you request. Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR, the California CCPA/CPRA and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal information, to object to processing, and to complain to a regulator. Because we do not hold your gameplay data, most of these rights can be exercised directly by clearing your browser's data. For anything else, contact us using the details below.
9. Data retention and security
We do not retain gameplay data because it is stored only on your device. Our hosting provider retains standard server logs for a limited period. We use HTTPS and reputable infrastructure to protect the site, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
10. Disclosure and legal requirements
We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not hold any. We may disclose information we hold (for example, feedback form responses) if required by law or a valid request from a public authority, or in good faith to protect the rights, property or safety of Griffin Games, its users or the public. If Griffin Games is transferred to another owner, this policy would continue to apply to anything we hold unless we give notice of a change.
11. International transfers
Our hosting and delivery infrastructure may process technical request data in countries other than your own. Where required, appropriate safeguards are applied by the provider.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed. Material changes will be reflected in the Game or on this page before they take effect.
